Gastrointestinal Health
The gastrointestinal system is a series of hollow tubes beginning at the mouth and ending in the anus, for which food is passed for nutrient absorption. As the body requires energy and nutrients that cannot be synthetically made by the body, we must consume energy-rich food for survival. This process, and its ingredients, is called nutrition. Many damaging processes can interfere with digestion and absorption of nutrients, resulting in symptoms of abdominal pain and associated bowel problems.
The gastrointestinal system acts as the plumbing system for the body, allowing foods and drink to be passed into the system and expelling the waste materials. There are a range of conditions that can affect this system, causing obstruction to the natural flow of the system and resulting in considerable discomfort.
