Sexual Health

Sexual health is an important part of life, for overall health and wellbeing. Whether you are young or old, single or married, sexual health impacts everyone. Some people are more experienced and comfortable with sex than others, though everyone can enjoy good sexual health. Sex and sexual desire is a natural and instinctive activity of humans. Sex can be the source of great satisfaction, or considerable apprehension, depending on our experiences and perceptions of sex.
Sexual Problems
Unfortunately, from time to time, we may encounter problems with our sexual health. Sexual dysfunction refers to sexual difficulties during any stage of the sexual act, including desire, arousal, orgasm, and resolution, that prevents the individual or couple from enjoying sexual activity. Difficulties can begin early in one’s sex life or may develop after the person has experienced enjoyable and satisfying sex. They may develop gradually over time, or may occur suddenly as a total or partial inability to participate in one or more stages of the sexual act. The causes of sexual difficulties can be physical, psychological, or both. These problems are associated with the stages of sexual acts, including sexual desire, sexual arousal, orgasm, and also the pains associated with sexual activities. People who experience these problems can exhibit aversion to, and avoidance of, sexual contact with their partner. In men, there may be partial or complete failure to attain or maintain an erection, or a lack of sexual excitement and pleasure in sexual activity.
As any other health problem, sexual disorders need to be recognised early and timely follow-up treatments are necessary to prevent further damage to one’s health and happiness.
