50% of Australian women 'have sex problems'
June 2008

More than half of Australian women are finding it hard getting sexual satisfaction. Women are urged to prioritise their time in the bedroom.
65% of 400 women surveyed about their sex lives had some form of sexual dysfunction.
Compared to international studies, Australian women seemed to have more problems with arousal and orgasm, said Deakin University psychology professor Marita McCabe.
“55% of women had difficulty with sexual satisfaction,” said Prof McCabe, who recently presented this data at a conference in Queensland, Australia.
“Women go into the bedroom and expect it will happen quickly, automatically, with orgasm [or] multi-orgasmic…without spending the time to do so. They’re busy and stressed and not taking the time for their sexual expression.’
The biggest influence on sexual interest are stress and poor body image, other contributing factors included anxiety and depression.
