PM Auscolos - therapeutic grade colostrum

Auscolos contains colostrum, the ‘first milk’ produced by mammals within the few days after giving birth. Compared to normal milk, colostrum has far higher concentrations of nutrients and immunological factors such as oligosaccharides, growth factors, antimicrobial compounds and immune-regulating constituents. Due to its immunoprotective activity, Auscolos helps the body resist many of the harmful conditions that can affect the gastro-intestinal tract, improving the functioning of the digestive system and providing relief from the symptoms of digestive disorders such as gastritis.

COLOSTRUM

Each PM Auscolos tablet contains 300mg of bovine colostrum and 45mg quantifed amount of IgG. Colostrum contains immune factors that support and enhance innate and adaptive immune responses. Both pre-clinical and clinical trials have demonstrated that colostrum supplementation can cause an increase in specific IgA, an important immunoglobulin that protects against gastrointestinal infections. Bovine colostrum also contains other immunoglobulins (IgG, IgD, IgE and IgM) beneficial in the treatment and prevention of viral infections, bacterial infections, allergies, yeast and fungus.

The presence of lactoferrin in bovine colostrum may partially explain its anti¬viral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Cytokines found in colostrum may further stimulate the immune system to help resist infections. Since the mid-1980s, clinical trials have studied the effects of bovine colostrums in children with diarrhoea caused by rotavirus, noting that daily supplementation with colostrum can significantly reduce the likelihood of its occurence. 

Bacterial infection (most often Helicobacter pylori) and Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) can cause gastritits, the chronic or acute inflammation of the stomach. Heliobacter pylori causes chronic-active gastritis and duodenal ulcers in humans. Studies have shown bovine colostrum concentrate to effectively block the deleterious effects of H. pylori, resulting in relief of symptoms, pain and discomfort of gastritis. Additionally, growth factors and cytokines derived from colostrum may improve growth and repair of the gastrointestinal system and stimulate mucosal healing in patients suffering from inflammatory gut disease.
