Regardless of whether you're a growing teenager, a professional athlete, or at a later stage in your life, maintaining strong, healthy bones is vital. Bones rely heavily on calcium for their strength, as well as essential vitamins (which cannot be synthesised by the body) to maintain bone density, decrease the risk of fractures and lower the chances of developing osteoporisis. The microcrystalline hydroxyapatite (MCHA) in NextG Cal contains calcium and phosphorus from a natural source in a ratio of 2:1, which is similar to our bone physiology. Clinical trials have shown (MCHA) to be more effective than normal calcium at accelerating fracture healing and preventive bone loss. With the addition of essential vitamins K1 and D3, NextG Cal provides your bones with the nutrients they need to keep working hard. What's more, it supports tissue function and helps maintain strong, white, healthy teeth. Now that's something to smile about.
Calcium
Calcium is an essential mineral required for skeletal growth and maintenance of skeletal integrity. Dietary supplementation with calcium plays a part in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis (particularly in the elderly) and can help in diseases which cause bones to be insufficiently mineralised. PM NextG Cal’s Hydroxyapatite is a naturally-derived calcium extract of bone, containing calcium and phosphate in ratio of 2:1. In numerous controlled studies conducted with over 600 patients, supplementation of hydroxyapatite has been shown to accelerate fracture healing, improve or prevent osteoporosis, decrease back pain and precipitate a gain in cortical bone thickness. From a clinical study, hydroxyapatite was found to be more effective in preventing bone loss in post-menopausal osteoporotic patients than an identical amount in the form of calcium carbonate. Reports have suggested that oral hydroxyapatite can accelerate fracture healing and improve or prevent osteoporosis.
Vitamins D3 and K1
Vitamin D3 and K1 are both essential vitamins. Essential vitamins are required for normal body functioning, yet cannot be synthesised by the body and so must be obtained from a dietary source. Vitamin D plays important role in maintaining healthy bones. Factors such as limited exposure to the sun and the use of sunscreen can affect cutaneous production of vitamin D3 in our bodies and can lead to vitamin D deficiency, which is now recognised as a major cause of metabolic bone disease in the elderly, osteomalacia (the softening of the bone) and they exacerbation of osteoporosis.
Vitamin D can be obtained from various foods such as butter, egg yolks, salmon and liver. However, these sources are not particularly reliable due to considerable variability between the amounts of vitamin D. Vitamin D supplements are therefore a more dependable source, with each PM NextG Cal tablet containing 2μg of vitamin D3.
Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated that vitamin K can improve bone mineral density in osteoporotic people and reduce the incidence of fractures. Further evidence in human intervention studies indicates that, when co-administered, vitamins K1 and D can work synergistically to increase bone mineral density and benefit bone health. Additional evidence suggests that vitamin K positively influences calcium balance, a key mineral in bone metabolism. Consequently, PM NextG Cal contains all these ingredients for optimal bone heatlh.
