Max Biocare recently welcomed a group of Thai students to Australia for the pilot of the Max Biocare STEM Program – a unique three-day educational experience designed to inspire curiosity, scientific thinking, creativity, and future-ready innovation skills.
Developed as a hands-on “Nature → Lab → Startup” journey, the program combines environmental exploration, real laboratory science, and entrepreneurship to give students an authentic insight into the world of innovation and problem-solving.
The pilot reflects Max Biocare’s broader commitment to supporting future generations through meaningful science education, sustainability awareness, and real-world learning experiences.
A Different Approach to STEM Education
As industries and technologies continue to evolve rapidly, there is increasing recognition that future-focused education must extend beyond traditional classroom learning.
The Max Biocare STEM Prototype Program was designed to help students develop not only scientific knowledge, but also the creativity, confidence, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills that are becoming increasingly important in the modern world.
Over three immersive days, students experienced the full innovation journey – from observing and exploring nature to formulating prototypes and presenting their ideas in a professional environment.
Day 1 – Nature Discovery at the Max Biocare Research Park
The program began at the Max Biocare Research Park in Yinnar, where students explored biodiversity, pollination, sustainability, and the relationship between plants, ecosystems, and scientific innovation.
Activities included:
- plant exploration and observation
- bee hive experiences
- honey tasting and extraction demonstrations
- plant sample extraction
- antioxidant testing
- scientific observation exercises
Students were encouraged to ask questions, make observations, and think critically about how natural ingredients can contribute to real-world products and solutions.
The experience also introduced important concepts around environmental stewardship and sustainable innovation.

Day 2 – Real Laboratory Science at Port Melbourne
On the second day, students stepped into Max Biocare’s Port Melbourne laboratories as “junior scientists.”
Wearing lab coats and personal protective equipment, students learned laboratory safety and participated in hands-on product development activities. Teams formulated prototype products, tested and measured results, gathered user feedback, and refined their ideas through experimentation and iteration.
The laboratory experience provided students with practical exposure to:
- scientific inquiry
- data collection and analysis
- experimentation and testing
- teamwork and collaboration
- evidence-based problem solving
For many students, it was their first opportunity to experience a professional research and development environment.

Day 3 – Innovation & Entrepreneurship at South Yarra
The final stage of the program took place in Max Biocare’s South Yarra Headquaters, where students transformed their scientific ideas into innovative concepts and presentations.
Working collaboratively in teams, students explored:
- branding and packaging
- customer thinking
- communication and presentation skills
- value creation
- creative problem-solving
Teams then presented their ideas to judges in a structured pitch session, building confidence and public speaking skills while learning how innovation is communicated in real-world business environments.
The experience highlighted entrepreneurship not simply as business creation, but as a mindset built around creativity, initiative, collaboration, and designing meaningful solutions for people and planet.
Building Future-Ready Skills
The STEM Prototype Program was intentionally designed to integrate knowledge, skills, and values into one connected learning experience.
Throughout the three days, students developed:
- curiosity and love of learning
- scientific thinking and inquiry skills
- teamwork and communication
- resilience and adaptability
- environmental awareness
- innovation and entrepreneurial thinking
- confidence and leadership
Importantly, the program also demonstrated how authentic hands-on experiences can increase student engagement, motivation, and enthusiasm for science and innovation.

International Collaboration & Future Vision
The pilot also represented an important opportunity for international educational collaboration.
Welcoming Thai students into an immersive Australian STEM learning environment encouraged cross-cultural exchange, teamwork, and global perspectives while showcasing the value of experiential education.
For Max Biocare, this pilot marks the beginning of a broader long-term vision to create meaningful STEM learning experiences that connect science, sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship across different stages of life.
As the program continues to evolve, Max Biocare looks forward to collaborating with schools, educators, industry partners, and international organisations that share a commitment to empowering future generations through science and innovation.
